Chloé Poizat
DES RAMEAUX FRÊLES ET FRAIS
COMME DES DOIGTS DE FEMME
Solo show
17/01/2019 - 23/02/2019
With the title of this exhibition borrowed from Marcel Schwob ("Twigs frail and fresh as woman fingers"), Chloé Poizat invites us to enter a world of metamorphosis, mysterious and fragmented.
There is night, fear and laughter
// Horrifying-Marvellous //
A passage, a tunnel
Getting out of the sheet, getting out of the frame Miniaturizing the landscape
Recreating a world by strokes, split, fragmentary
Invisible and imaginary
Stem Beings, mushrooms perhaps, twigs and stones
Recall a world of remnants
An unreal world
Pending
In which the eye watches
The grotesque eye, both dreadful and funny
// Horrifying-Marvellous //
So we dream with a faint sound
Remote
For amusing rituals
We dream a dance
A trance
Coming from immemorial times
Chloé POIZAT
Chloé Poizat’s whole body of work deals with disappearance (of beings, things and places), invisible worlds and metamorphosis.
She has always had a specific bond with fiction, whether with literature or with genre movie. Her artistic roots mainly come from everything which concerns spontaneous creative practices, such as outsider art, automatic and spiritualist drawing, folk art, primitive art, ritual songs and dances.
Her work is based on assembling, with no limitation of medium, setting a dialogue among fragments (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, sounds), creating, in this way, fictionnal and fragmented worlds in which the grotesque, the dream, the fear and the uncanny are everywhere.
A part of her work also takes shape through edition, with Artzines, books or multiples.
