in the presence of Pamela Bianchi and Luca Resta.
05/05/2022, 7 p.m.
TSORPM (acronym of “The sleep of reason produces monsters”) takes the title of a famous allegorical etching by Francisco de Goya, frontispiece for the Caprichos series, satirical and humorous engravings whose subjects are human vices and miseries . Under this title is collected a whole series of heterogeneous collections of disposable objects and packaging for food products, which not only push the idea of contemporary allegory to the extreme, but also highlight compulsions, obsessive repetitions and
claustrophobic accumulations typical of our society.
TSORPM #7 is the seventh work in this series, and in particular consists of a set of 478 plastic bottles collected by the artist between 2015 and 2020. The collection is still ongoing.

LAUNCHING: LA CRITIQUE D'ART / MARGES n°24
"La critique d'Art" de Claire Fagnart ; MARGES n.24 - "L’expérience dans l'art"
18/05/2017
"La critique d'Art" by Claire Fagnart is a draft theory about critical literature : what kind of knowledges do criticisms offer us ? Regarding which expectations ? This book explores the bonds between critical writing and philosophical, aesthetics, and epistemological beliefs of their authors, the bonds between criticism and the beliefs of 20th and 21st centuries. Moreover, this book questions the relationship between criticism and the artistic codes and norms. Broadly speaking, it tackles with the implicit philosophical and aesthetic features of art criticism from modern art revolution, and the transition between the 20th and 21st centuries, to nowadays.
Writer: Claire Fagnart is a university lecturer in the Arts department of Paris 8 University. Her research deal with aesthetics, pratice and history of plastic arts and photography. She is an expert and principal investigator of the following theme : «speech and discourse on art». / "marges" magazine, no.24 "Experience in art"Marges 24, « L’expérience dans l’art » is part of a series of thematic studies run by Marges magazine about the conditions of creation at the beginning of 21st century. Following « Contemporary Art and Cultural Studies », « Remake / Cover / Repetition », « What’s an apparatus (in contemporary art ) »,« Artist-Theorician » and « globalism » it is now about reconsidering an ever-present thematic of the 20th century : the will of putting the art back into everyday life. Recent period enables us to reformulate this very ambition, at a point where the aesthetic experience settles down on new types of objects.

PERFORMANCE
Bérangère Maximin, sound performance proposed by Umut Ungan
14/12/2013
The Electroacoustic composer, Bérangère Maximin will perform a sonic piece on the layering concept, experimenting with an arrangement of colors, textures and elements in a progressive accumulation, a personal intense and colorful mass.
"Bérangère Maximin's science of acousmatic allows her to mix a wide range of sounds from ethnic fragments to noise and electric guitar samples which bring to mind Talking Heads as well as Henri Pousseur (...) . No need to have a 100K studio when one's got the good ideas." Chronic'art
For this special occasion, Bérangère Maximin will present the limited "Home Sweet Home Studio/BM" tee-shirt edition she's created in collaboration with Skopp (launching in January 2014). Working out of her own Home Sweet Home Studio, BM shoots sounds in a dark silent room, records soundscapes and acoustic sounds, performs on a variety of objects, plays with sampling, digital effects and sings. Her attraction to light and powerful sounds gives her work a very unique quality.

PERFORMANCE / INSTALLATION: ZOMBIE MACHINE MUSIC
Matthieu Crimersmois and Marc Plas will perform an installation/performance
25/05/2013
Invited by Lucie Le Bouder aside from the exhibition LAYERS at gallery 22.48 m², Matthieu Crimersmois practice scratching for over 10 years. It was during his studies at the Beaux- Arts de Nantes ( DNSEP 2009) that his work focuses on the relationship between sound and image. He began his practice in adapting a mixer on his body (2005) and a read head on each index in its hands, strolling the streets as a troubadour of noise music. In 2006, he created a scratching partition machine ( Phonoptique ) to transpose graphic signs obtained by his gestures in morse code, implying that scratching can be an intelligible language. He also thermoformed vinyl to create a kind of shell , featuring a notion of immunity and fragility. In 2008 he created his own drawing tool with enhanced plates , which become a giant " Télécran " with which he draws and mixes... Marc Plas practices painting, drawing, film and video. He is particularly interested in the relationship between cinema and video : " Regarding my practice of film and video , the word" drama " would probably make no sense and would be replaced by a less exogenous term, more appropriate to the elements about the process of developing a film. Experimenting hybridization racks, practice switching between media is to first take into account the particularities of each of them and their irreconcilable differences . "

SOUND PERFORMANCE BY MATHIAS DELPLANQUE
proposed by Umut Ungan
19/01/2013
Mathias Delplanque (born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in 1973) lives and works in Nantes (France).
His works (developed on records, performances or sound installations, and being either based on field recordings or containing instrumental parts) all directly deal with the question of the relation between space and music: music as architecture, spaces made out of sound etc… Initially a pure sequenced studio production, Mathias’s music transformed with the years into a more improvised and flexible creation. Showing a real interest in live electronic music, he developed a very personal approach of electronic improvisation, based on the use of multiple controllers that engage the body in the production of electronic performances. His live creations generally combine electronic sounds and acoustic instruments treated and sampled in real time. Mathias Delplanque won several grants (Cultures France, CNC, DRAC Pays de La Loire, Franco-American Jazz Exchange, French Embassy in India…), and made several artistic residencies in various countries (France, Canada, India, USA…). He runs the label Bruit Clair, dedicated to electronic music and sound art.

LAUNCHING : VALEUR(S) DE L'ART CONTEMPORAIN / MARGES n° 11
14/01/2011
Evening presentation of the number 11 of the magazine of contemporary art Marges. How a value ( artistic, historical, financial . ) Is assigned to works of art ? Several authors in this issue observe how some artists have played with the idea of value , others more generally questioned the valuation process of art or work of art within the society. The perspectives adopted deal with cultural history, art history and aesthetics .
"Value (s) of contemporary art" is part of a series of studies conducted by the magazine Marges about the conditions of the creation in the early 21st century. After dealing with "the art at the time of the service society " and "irresponsibility of the art " and " movement of artistic practices " this time it is about a point which raises controversy , the tangible and intangible dual nature of the value attributed to works of art.
The authors are Jean -Philippe Antoine , Jacinto Lageira Julie Verlaine , Sophie Cras , Marc Lenot, Gabriel Gee , Leo Martinez. There is also a portfolio by Chloe Poizat and an interview with Philippe Gronon .
