22.48 m² is celebrating its 15th anniversary in a new space!
15 years of exhibitions, exchanges, artistic commitment, and connections forged with artists, works of art, and audiences.
To celebrate this milestone, we are inaugurating our new address. Don't worry: we are staying loyal to KOMUNUMA in Romainville, but we are moving a few dozen metres away, to the inner courtyard alongside our sisters, the FRAC Reserves and the Fiminco Foundation.
For this exhibition project, we wanted to bring together 15 artists who, over time, have built the gallery's vibrant identity.
Each artist was invited to propose a work: an evocation of celebration, anniversary, banquet, ritual, sharing, excess, but also a memory of the gallery's past projects.
Evoking the setting of a Quinceañera, a traditional Latin American celebration of young girls turning 15 — symbolising their passage into adulthood — the artists tackle the theme in their own way: between humour and seriousness, fiction and memory, intimate ritual and collective celebration.
For this occasion, a 22.48 m² space has been created inside the gallery, reproducing the surface area of the very first venue in Belleville. This room will remain in place for a year and will host a parallel and experimental programme.
