For her second solo show at 22,48 m², Paola Ciarska will present a new body of work, continuing her exploration of miniature interiors as self-contained worlds of objects, images and private activity.

Combining her characteristic isometric perspective with a new bird’s-eye view, the paintings explore the relationship between visibility, observation and intimacy. Objects float free from their domestic arrangements, while eyes embedded within them introduce an unsettling sense of reciprocity between the viewer and the viewed. Pink and blue portals frame solitary figures absorbed in their own worlds, suggesting that visibility does not necessarily grant access to another person’s inner life.

Densely populated interiors invite an almost obsessive form of looking, reflecting a contemporary condition in which objects, images and possessions continually compete for our attention. Against this abundance, the isolated figures introduce a tension between looking and knowing, questioning what remains inaccessible even when everything appears visible.

The exhibition also includes selected works from Ciarska’s earlier Gynecee and Glitch series and the Eternal Revel series. Together, the works bring different strands of her practice into a shared environment concerned with the boundaries between private experience, external appearances and the worlds we inhabit.
