"Ellande Jaureguiberry has been practicing drawing and ceramics since his studies at the École supérieure d'arts et médias de Caen, from which he graduated in 2016. On the one hand, there is the long time of drawing - "scratching the paper" with colored pencils, building and composing on the sheet - and the economy of means, and on the other, the "faster" time of ceramics and the constraints of production. The artist finds his balance in this way. If each medium exists by itself, drawing and ceramics dialogue with each other during exhibitions. [...] Ceramic rods are also recurrent motifs in his works on paper. Fruits, flowers, branches and parts of the human body - tongues, torso, ears, hands, etc.-, drawn with a precision and attention to detail that characterize the work of the artist born in 1985, appear regularly. 'I look at a lot of anatomical plates from the 1950s. Their colors, their paper, their illustrations which sometimes lead to abstraction inspire me' he explains. Ellande Jaureguiberry's drawings, notably presented at the Salon de Montrouge in 2019, mix the mineral, the botanical and the organic. Loaded with sexual symbols, they evoke reproductive systems, paths of life. They also multiply the games of frame and plan, as well as the trompe-l'oeil. Recently, the artist has been looking back, taking stock: 'Today I am returning to the vaporous and slightly cloudy backgrounds of my first black and white drawings. But this time, they are colored. It is a logical continuation.' "
